Windows 7 Mobile Device

February 15th, 2010 Kip Comments

So the Windows 7 Mobile device has been launched. And I gotta say it looks awesome. Definitely a contender.

Check it :

Full details can be found on Gizmodo here:

http://gizmodo.com/5471805/windows-phone-7-series-everything-is-different-now

I gotta say I am a big time Blackberry user at this point. I have a work one and a personal one and I love them from all aspects. Email, web, music, pictures etc etc. I am not at all tempted by an IPhone for many reasons too detailed to get into here. Until today I thought my next phone would most likely be a Google nexus one or whatever is out at the end of my contract, but now I am thinking maybe a Windows 7 device is the way forward.

I have used Windows mobile devices before and have to say whilst some of the functionality was pretty good, they did not compare to Blackberry or iPhone. It looks like they fixed that and now we have a new mobile contender.

Free Online Image Editor

February 15th, 2010 Kip Comments

Free online stuff is always welcome. A free online image editor is both awesome and innovative and highly useful. Imagine your scenario. You are in the middle of the jungle (yes with internet access) and your laptop is broken. But you come across a remarkably rare insect that has never been discovered before. You get your camera, you take your picture, and you visit your local Jungle Internet Cafe to upload the picture to What Insect?. Yet when you plugin the camera, you see in the background of the picture there are a couple of Monkeys Humping! You can’t very well send that in so what do you do? Microsoft Paint clearly isn’t up to the job and there are no other packages on the computer?

Thats where Aviary comes into its own.

Check out this video for an idea of what its all about:

And go here for more information:

I like the idea and it seems to work pretty well. Check it out. Evilmunky approved.

Evilmunky comes out of the darkness!

February 1st, 2010 Kip Comments

Evilmunky new stylee!

Since it’s inception, Evilmunky.com has generally been based around one theme and hasn’t veered much from that, apart from general layout stuff. Well, whilst at work today, I was checking the site and something struck me. With a site as dark in colour as evilmunky.com was, it was kinda hard to look at whilst in the work place. You can tell straight away that it was a non work related site, and whilst that doesn’t bother me, I figured it might mean some users couldn’t benefit from the wonders within, whilst in their place of work.

I set of looking for a nice n light well made wordpress theme, which I found I stumbled across iNove. Now, I almost didn’t use it for the simple reason I dislike stuff starting with ‘i’ but it looked good, seemed customisable where necessary and was hassle free.

That was an hour ago, and here we are, new theme, all working with a few minor tweaks in what I hope will prove to be a more user / work place friendly look.

Different Types of Website ads!

January 26th, 2010 Kip Comments

So what types of ads annoy you?

So I am sure most of you who use the web are well aware that most websites some form of advertising on them. And why not? If someone has gone to the effort of making a webstie to inform or amuse you, then it shouldn’t be a huge problem to view the ad’s on their site and maybe help them recoup some of the costs of running the site. Maybe you even click on some of the ads if they are good contextual ones? I know I do.

I just saw this following image – which is a result of voters thoughts on different types of ads, and I have to say, it pretty much stacks with my thoughts.

What are your thoughts?
